6. Dexter Holland
The lead vocalist and songwriter of the punk rock band the Offspring, Dexter Holland has a doctorate degree in molecular biology, making him smarter than smart.
Originally, the highly educated musician attended the University of Northern California, picking up bachelor’s and then master’s degrees. He went on to pursue a doctoral program but decided to put his education on hold to focus on his musical career.
This didn’t stop him, though. Years later, Holland went back to it. Even when he was recording music and touring, he worked step by step to complete his PhD. The result? The highly educated musician published a 175-page dissertation on the HIV/host interaction and the molecular dynamics of the virus.
