Melania Trump first came to the US to work as a model. Her beauty opened doors to the fashion industry for her, and she was very good at what she did.

Back in 1987, young Melania decided to drop out of the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia because she decided to focus on modeling instead. It only took her a year of trying to get a lucrative contract with a modeling agency in Milan, Italy.

When she met Paolo Zampolli, a famous Italian businessman, he helped her get a work visa to get to the US. Back then, she planned on living in the US but had to travel back home a couple of times to renew her visa.

“I came here for my career, and I did so well that I moved here,” Melania said to Harper’s Bazaar at the time. “It never crossed my mind to stay here without papers. That’s just the person you are. You follow the rules. You follow the law.

You must fly back to Europe every few months and stamp your visa. After a couple of visas, I applied for a green card and received it in 2001. After getting my green card, I applied for citizenship. And it was a long process.”

At an event during 1998’s New York Fashion Week, Zampolli brought a friend, Donald Trump. He was on a date that evening, but when he saw Melania, he immediately wanted to know who she was.

One of Melania’s close friends, Edit Molnar, talked about that night and explained that Donald asked Melania for her number, but she refused to give it to him because he wasn’t alone.

“Melania said, ‘He’s here with a woman. I’m not giving him my number,'” Molnar told the New York Post. “She wouldn’t even consider it. Donald did all the work.” In turn, Melania also spoke of the night she first met Donald. “He wanted my number,” she said.

“But he was on a date, so I didn’t give it to him. I said, ‘I’m not giving you my number; give me yours, and I’ll call you.’ If I give him my number, I’m just one of the women he calls.” Eventually, they DID meet again, and one thing led to another. They began a relationship.

In 2001, when Melania got her green card, she was already living in Trump Tower. They got married about three years later, and in 2006, Barron Trump was born.

  1. As long as she’s been an American you would think she would lose that accent, it’s a shame to have a First Lady sound horrible.

  2. That was Nancy Reagan that said, “Just say no”, but regardless I think Melania Trump is moving in the right direction , having a different opinion than her husband isn’t bad it shows freedom of choice, that is what makes America great!

  3. Jackie O was not Jackie O until after President Kennedy was assassinated, and she remarried. And the Just Say No campaign was not hers, but Nancy Reagan’s. Even though government operatives used a Mexican cartel to launder money to aid the counter revolutionaries in Nicaragua, thereby strengthening the cartel. So her campaign did not go too far.

  4. Your spin on this subject is not accurate. To say Melania being environment-conscious is at odds with her husband is not true. Mr. Trump is as environment-conscious, he just does not agree with the approach taken in the past, such as the Paris Climate accord which is a huge waste of money and has had virtually no impact to improve the environment.

  5. She’s a beautiful soul inside and out. The prayers go up daily for your family to stay safe.
God will protect. Looking forward to the future now. Thanks be to God.
    With all my prayers.

  6. Why am I not in tears? Misleading headline. And you guys sure know how to leave out information. I had a pleasant time reading your propaganda though, even though I didn’t learn anything. Quite the opposite, if the intended effect is to appeal to the dumb and ill-informed.

  7. Melania is great! I wonder what her focus will be this time around? BTW, I think it was Nancy Reagan who promoted the “Just say NO” campaign, not Jackie Kennedy. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

  8. “Just Say No” to drugs was Nancy Reagan’s platform. Jaqueline Kennedy was known for restoration and conservation of historical buildings, i.e. the White House.

  9. I stopped reading when you asserted ‘Jackie O’ introduced the ‘Just Say No’ campaign. You are an historical nincompoop. First, Jackie O never existed in the White House. She was Jackie Kennedy. Second, Nancy Reagan introduced the ‘Just Say No’ campaign. Check your facts, will you?

  10. Melania did a good job raising her son, he looks well behave and i am sure he is very respecful to his parents and siblings. First Lady Melania did a good Job decorating the WH in white Christmas Trees in 2017 Holiday season. we loved how she did it. everything is very elegant, and beautifully done.

    1. Of course you would say that,, “WH in WHITE Christmas Tress” in 2017..you would agree to anything that is considered white….this is the problem in the US,,,just remember one thing the Indians were here first not the white people…

    2. I agree! The white trees with the sparkling lights were breath taking. Her flare for her wardrobe continued on through the White House dcorum.

Not sure what the author’s background (and Age) is here.
I suspect young and not good at historical research.
To Correct: IT WAS NANCY REAGAN, NOT JACKIE O THAT LAUNCHED THE “JUST SAY NO”
    CAMPAIGN.

Melania is a very beautiful woman and she is a great mother to Barron.
want everyone to hate her so they spread lies and mock her, but she does NOT let them bring her down. As far as her marriage to President Trump, that is their business. She evidently loves him and he loves her. Every marriage has its problems, but that is between them and it isn’t anyone else’s business. She has stood by President Trump through all the BS the Democrats have accused him of doing!! And he has came out on top. It is time for people to get off her back and let them live their own lives. Look what Stephanie Grisham did, got a job working for her then tried to trash her for FAME and FORTUNE!!!! What a Bit*h!!!! Instead of realizing what an honor she had for working for Melania, she got greedy.
    Stay strong and Beautiful Melania!!!!!
You are a Good Person, Woman and Mother!!!!!

Part of my post seems to be missing.
I guess someone did NOT want anybody to compliment an Elegant and Beautiful Lady.

  14. “Just Say No” was the “brainchild” of Nancy Reagan. It was an ill-conceived, poorly run joke — sort of like her husband’s entire administration.

Jacqueline Kennedy (later Jacqueline Onassis) had projects in historical restoration and education — including the restoration of the White House. She also worked on arts education at all levels, accomplishing quite a lot considering she was first lady for less than three years.

  15. Melania has the right idea about raising her son. The problem will be as he grows up and what his father is and has been over the years, still will affect Barron. His father is all about himself and that does trickle down to children, whether we want it too or not.

  16. I feel Melania is a very classy Lady and she has done a good job taking care of Barron. I also think, now that Barron is a young man and he’s off to college, that Melania can now step up a bit to be more present in the political world with Trump this tone around in the white House.

  17. Teresita Del Rosario

First Lady Melania Trump is the best First Lady America ever had. She is calm, caring, classy, elegant, reserved, respectful, and sweet. She loves President Trump, Barron and her whole family. God bless her and President Trump and their family!

  18. presicella harris

Melania Trumps Be Best agenda has done nothing but just words to make it seem like she’s planning something to benefit children. The subject know one has even presented itself.

  19. I don’t recall a writer being this ignorant of the subject matter, ever. But just for laughs, it wasn’t Jackie who started the “just say no” campaign. lol, that’s pretty basic stuff, eh.

  20. Magali de la Torre

I admire the way that Melania has behaved as “First Lady”, and how she has taken care of her son. He is a well behaved young man whose parents should be very proud of. May God bless and take care of the Trump Family! Melania is the most beautiful “First Lady” that the WH had ever had, and Barron looks a lot like her!

  21. Michael Bennett

Melania deserves people’s respect and consideration for the tough job she has bringing up a child while being the wife of a reprehensible reprobate who is threatening to lead this once glorious democracy down a dark and frightening path. I certainly wish her the best in her endeavors to be a nurturing and conscientious mother and to do her best to keep Barron out of her husband’s orbit as much as she can.

  22. She’s probably a wonderful woman. I just feel bad for her because of the husband she chose, I’m sure she could’ve had somebody that’s a lot less controversial. Oh well, that’s the life you pick.

Ummm, I don’t know who wrote this crap, but they made at least one glaring mistake… It was Nancy Reagan who pushed the “just say no” to drugs garbage, not Jackie O. Dumbass.

  24. You morons it was Nancy Reagan who said just say no to drugs not Jackie O. Plus when Jackie O was first lady she was Jackie k.

  25. Nancy Reagan was the First Lady the said “Just say know” to drugs
Jacki Kennedy upgraded the White House.
Lady Bird Johnson pushed clean America, pick up your trash.
One of the Bushes pushed reading

  26. Nancy Reagan was the one that said “Just say no to drugs”
Jackie Kennedy push for an up grade to a classy White House
Lady Bird Johnson had Beautify America, pick up your trash
One off the Bushes pushed reading.

  27. Melania Trump may be many things. Like a former XXX porn magazine model. Most of America has seen way more of her than any other first lady. But one thing that no one can take away from her is that she has always been a great mother. Always putting Barron first. For that she deserves credit and respect.

  28. Rosemarie Picinich

My family and I are honored to have Melania Trump as our First Lady. Her charismatic aura positively encompasses and affects all of us as Americans. She displays a common sense and caring disposition as as a 21st century woman with traditional values. Her confidence and commitment gives us a security and sense of peace. She is genuine. May Our Lord watch over you and protect you and your family , First Lady Melania Trump, in these next four years . Welcome back! Welcome home! Thank you!

  29. She didn’t do anything. Just stuck by the slime ball. And Nancy Regan started the just say no. Not Jakie O. Reporter is a complete idiot.

  30. To the person writing this article – you really need to double-check your information before you just write something off the top of your head. Jacquline Kennedy encouraged the arts, and started the White House Histotical collection, turning parts of the White House into a museum protected by Congress. Nancy Reagan (wife of Ronald Reagan – R – 1981 to 1989) started the ‘Just Say No”
initiative. If you don’t wish to spend your time in research ( which, I think, behooves a journalist to do so) then google it, or ask Wikipedia! I was alive and well all the way back to Mamie Eisenhower’s 2nd term as First Lady.
