The Amish people began to settle in Pennsylvania during the 18th century, but some of them have since relocated to other places across the US and Canada, including New York, Ohio, and Indiana.
Despite the fact that they have been around for a long time, those of us who are outsiders don’t really know much about them. A reason for that is due to the small percentage of Amish people that leave their faith and values for the modernized world. Otherwise, all the aspects related to their lifestyle are often kept within the confines of their communities.
But just to be clear. The word “Amish” doesn’t refer to a race. Instead, it refers to a traditionalist Christian group that is known to do away with most modern technologies. That’s why in some parts of the country, you may even see them still riding horse-drawn buggies instead of driving cars.
