Some would say Washington was one of the greatest US presidents. We don’t deny he did some good things during his time in office, but he also made several major mistakes that weigh more.
One of the biggest was how he handled the Whiskey Rebellion. In 1791, farmers in Pennsylvania were outraged by a new whiskey tax. They collectively rebelled, started a labor revolt, and began attacking tax collectors.
Washington eventually had to send the military to suppress the rebellion, but his move only made people angrier and made him look weak.
The former president also didn’t do much to abolish slavery, which was a major concern at the time. These two factors contribute to why Washington is on this list.

I think you need to read some history starting in about 1920 With President Wilson. He started us down the path of people relying on the government and it has proven through the years to add more people to the entitlement rolls. Although President Roosevelt had to socialize much of the government during the depression to actually save lives but after we overcame that and the war ,it was clear the power brokers wanted more people dependent on the Government and it has been that way ever since although some presidents tried to speed it up but the worst was Obama and his backroom deals that hurried the process and caused much of the division in this country today.

I find it absolutely impossible to fairly evaluate Trump’s behavior and performance both during and after his presidency without considering the amazing degree of attacks he was under the entire time. Look at all of the division and hostility amongst everyone. Look at the violence, homelessness, gun violence, protesting, destruction of businesses, the shut downs of businesses, the outrageous prices for everything we depend on for survival, the shortages of staple items needed by all. Everyone has their right to choose and even if it doesn’t coincide with your own choices doesn’t mean anyone is wrong or right, it only means we are all American’s whom are exercising our rights, to choose, to speak are our freedoms and that is what America is so great for and why we chose to live in this country. Rather than keep arguing and disputing one another maybe we can try to find some respect for one another even if opinions are not the same, just be glad that we live in a country that allows us to have an opinion. Even the best people in the world sometimes make bad choices and that is how they learn from their mistakes, this is life. Politics suck!! I think it would be more interesting to turn this around and determine who were the most loved and admired president’s in American history. Reasons to hate are easy to identify while finding reasons for respect and admiration are more difficult, especially where politicians are concerned.

I do not know who is responsible for these views of our presidents. While they all had flaws, as we all do, many of them were great leaders who led us thru difficult times. Which I find amazing since we were retired by then. Since one of our children was disabled as a teen – we still have two adult children living at home (someone has to take care of him when we are gone).
