Robert Downey Jr.’s journey with addiction has been a world wide spectacle, that proved once again that money and fame aren’t everything and it will definitely not magically heal any wounds. The renowned actor has been filmed drunkenly breaking into his neighbors’ home by accident and passing out in their kid’s bed; he’s been arrested with a myriad of drugs in his possession; he’s even broken out of a few rehab facilities!
And with the target of his fame put on his back, it was for everyone to see, and it just showed how ugly addiction can become. However, he eventually decided, of his own accord, to get clean and went to get treatment.
Since getting sober, he had been honest about his addiction, and he shared something that others don’t really speak about: you can get out of the “cave” of addiction, but some people don’t actually change; which in turn makes it easy for them to relapse. We are glad that in Robert Downey Jr.’s case, it hasn’t happened!
