7. The two brothers drove through the tunnel where Princess Diana died
In 2007, Prince Harry went to Paris to watch England play in the Rugby World Cup Final. While there, he recalled asking his driver to take him through the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, where the deadly car crash took place.
Harry thought doing that would bring him closure. Instead, he said that driving through the tunnel actually made him realize that his mother was gone forever—which caused him even more pain.
According to the memoir, after a night of drinking, Harry called William and told him about the tunnel. “It turned out he’d driven the tunnel as well, so we decided to do it together.” After that, for the first time ever, we talked about the crash.”
Harry and William also talked about the inquests into their mother’s crash, which they said were “fanciful, riddled with gaping logical holes, and basic factual errors.”
Prince Harry said they intended to issue a statement and jointly ask to reopen an investigation. They wanted those responsible—the paparazzi and those who had sent them to chase Diana—to face consequences, but it never happened.
