Payments and threats
One reason that led to Trump’s indictment might be the fact that Ms. Daniels was paid by the politician’s lawyer to keep quiet about the affair. In 2016, only a few days after Trump was getting ready to become president of the United States, he sent his lawyer to pay no less than $130,000 to the woman he had an affair with.
Stormy said that she accepted the money because she was physically and legally threatened to remain silent and because she was afraid for the safety of her family. In 2011, she was approached by In Touch magazine, which wanted to find out more about the interview, and she agreed.
However, a few days later, while she was in a car park with her daughter, an unknown man came up to her and told her to leave Trump alone. He also added that her daughter is a beautiful girl and that it would be very bad if something happened to her mother.
Stormy Daniels decided that it was time to tell the truth and defend herself, so in 2018, she had an interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, and she shared all the details that happened after the affair.
But before the episode aired, a shell company linked to the lawyer who paid her called and threatened her with a $20 million lawsuit, saying that she broke their non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a “hush agreement”. Stormy Daniels told CBS what she risks by speaking on national television, but she decided to do it anyway.
