Question No. 18: While you don’t need to know how each territory joined the union, America’s acquisition of one certain area actually inspired a question on the test, and that is, “What territory did the US buy from France in 1803?”

Answer: The answer is the Louisiana Territory. It included portions of 14 different states and was acquired in the Louisiana purchase.

Question No. 19: How many amendments are there in the Constitution?

Answer: The answer to this question is another piece of trivia that most people tend to forget. There are 27 amendments. Another possible question is, “What is one freedom or right from the First Amendment?” The correct answer is one of the following: speech, assembly, press, religion, and the right to petition the government.

Question No. 20: Other important amendments that you should know about are those related to voting. So, applicants for American citizenship may receive the following question: “There are four amendments to the US Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.”

Answer: The 26th Amendment allows every citizen 18 and older to vote. The 15th allows citizens of any color or race to vote. The 19th allows both men and women to vote. And the 24th allows citizens to vote without paying anything, meaning the government doesn’t charge a poll tax.
