1. An Extra Rib
Most people have 12 pairs of ribs, for a total of 24 ribs. However, some people are born with 25 ribs. According to medical experts, one in every 200 people has this rare body feature known as a cervical rib.
We did some research and discovered that a cervical rib develops above the first rib and is present at birth. It grows just above the collarbone, at the base of the neck. You can have it on the left, right, or both sides.
And yes, it’s possible to have this rare body feature without even knowing it. That’s because this extra rib may just be a thin strand of tissue fiber and not a fully formed bone that can be seen on an x-ray.
Cervical ribs may sound alarming, but they are usually no big deal. Thankfully, they are also treatable.
