9. Arizona

  • Population: 7,151,502
  • Violent crimes (per 100,000 people):  485
  • Homicides: 513

Arizona saw a 6.5% annual change in violent crime rates, but this state had a 40.5% increase in homicide rates, resulting in a total of 485 violent crimes per 100,000 people and 513 reported murders in 2020.

This place is famous for housing the Grand Canyon, but you may also add it to the list of the most dangerous states in the US. Ranking 9th out of 10, Arizona has several areas that are considered crime-ridden, and the former mining town of Globe is one of them.

In addition to having the highest number of violent crimes per 100,000 citizens (the largest number in the state, by the way), folks living here are especially vulnerable to property crimes (7,380 recorded per 100,000). But that’s not all. When it comes to property crimes, Tolleson is the worst of all Arizona’s cities: 1 in 11 people fall victim to housebreaking theft.

And, of course, its most populous city, Phoenix, recorded the most incidents of violent crimes in the state.
