Activist and entertainer Olivia Newton-John was best known as an actress and pop singer. One of her most popular roles was as Sandy in the film adaptation of “Grease”, in which she co-starred with John Travolta. Her hit song “Physical” made her a superstar in the music video era.
Newton-John, who was born in England and raised in Melbourne, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. In May 2017, she announced that the disease had spread to her lower back after 25 years in remission. In August 2018, the singer had to cancel a two-date tour just a few weeks after announcing it.
News of her death from cancer was announced on Aug. 8, 2022.
