10. Gallagher, 76
Gallagher, a stand-up comedian, was most known for his comedy routine in which he would smash various food items with a sledgehammer (he nicknamed it “Sledge-O-Matic”).
With a beret on his head and several basic props, from a bullwhip to a can of oil, the man born Leo Anthony Gallagher Jr. made it big in the 1970s and ’80s, starring in numerous Showtime specials and featuring on the “Tonight” show with Johnny Carson.
After this, he continued performing stand-up for decades, and in 2019, he performed on a farewell tour named “The Last Smash”. Gallagher passed away on Nov. 11, 2022, at the age of 76. The cause of death was organ failure after “numerous heart attacks”.
