1. McCarren Park Pool Tunnels

We start off our list of hidden underground places in NYC by talking about the McCarren Park Pool Tunnels. If you’ve been there, you know that the now-renovated pool at Greenpoint’s McCarren Park is pretty amazing and seems like a fun place to be, but its construction date goes back to the Great Depression, as it was one of the 11 huge pools around this magical city that were commissioned by FDR’s Works Progress Administration.

But what not many people know about this place is that beneath the park lies a set of secret drainage pipes and access tunnels that could make any urban explorer gag.

Even though they’re not allowed to go visit these hidden underground places in NYC, many brave people, who didn’t care about trespassing tickets, ventured into the pool’s catacombs and shared their stories on social media.

Would you like to see the tunnels in real life?
