During the election, Donald Trump promised he would stop tweeting as president. This obviously didn’t happen, as we probably wouldn’t write this article today.
Anyway, this tweet was sent two weeks before he took office in early 2017 and showed how willing he was to control markets and use his power as president to target private companies. This kind of attitude continued after his inauguration, which basically made analysts at JP Morgan Chase create a special index meant to monitor his impact on interest rates.
Other experts at Bank of America discovered that the stock market actually fell slightly on days when Trump tweeted over 35 times and rose when he tweeted less than 5.
