2. Marilyn Monroe
Kennedy’s relationship with seductive actress Marilyn Monroe has long been the subject of rumors. It all began with her iconic “Happy Birthday” performance for the chief of state at a May 1962 Madison Square Garden fundraiser.
We didn’t have any pictures of Kennedy and Monroe until 2010, when a rare photo taken during the after-party at the home of movie executive Arthur Krim was released. It’s the only known image of Monroe with Kennedy.
Journalist Seymour Hersh wrote in his book “The Dark Side of Camelot” that “the star’s instability posed a constant threat” to the chief of state before she mysteriously overdosed at age 36 in 1962.
In fact, there were even rumors of a possible cover-up or involvement of either Kennedy or his brother, Bobby, in the death of the iconic star.
