9. Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Domestically, he is best known for slashing income taxes as a result of two different bills: the Economic Recovery Tax Act (1981) and the Tax Reform Act (1986).
Coming in at No. 9, Reagan, originally an American actor, is also known for pressuring the Soviet Union to put an end to the Cold War. He redefined the purpose of government and defined what it means to be a Republican. Reagan’s influence stayed for years, even after his administration ended.
He’s ranked so highly because of his positive international relations, his gift for public persuasion, and his overall vision.
