“Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 after a routine mammogram. She decided to keep the news secret. “I didn’t want to make it public while undergoing medical treatment. I didn’t want paparazzi at the hospital, that type of stuff,” she declared.
The actress also added that she kept it secret because of the stigma. She finally went public with her cancer battle on Good Morning America in 2008, after undergoing surgery to remove a small growth and receiving radiation treatment. Since making a full recovery and going public, she has become a breast cancer activist.
