7. Bogart
This is another one of the baby boomer phrases that are probably unknown to young people nowadays. When you call someone a bogart,” what do you mean by that? That they are selfish and don’t want to share something with others. For example, you can say, “Please don’t bogart all the chocolate!”
If you think that this is such a weird word, you need to know that it comes from Humphrey Bogart, the famous actor, who, in all of his movies, used to keep a cigarette dangling in his mouth even when he was speaking instead of passing it.
“Bogart” can also be used to describe a bully or a “tough guy”, again coming from the roles the actor used to play.
8. Come on, snake, let’s rattle
There are many baby boomer phrases, but this one was incredibly popular in the 1950s. Again, another one that might sound weird, but read on to see the true meaning of it.
When somebody says, “Come on, snake, let’s rattle,” it can have two meanings depending on the context and the tone. First, you can say this to invite a girl to dance, and second, you can say this when you want to provoke someone into a fight. It is your choice how you decide to use it.
